How I Landed A TEDx Talk

You hear me talk a lot about visions, long term goals, short term goals, action steps, and consistency.

Today, I thought I'd share a personal story and a personal journey.

About a year and a half ago, I created a vision that included doing a TEDx talk.

Then I took action. I created a long-term vision. The goal created the consistency and action steps. Life then goes on, right? For the past 18 months, I have received no after no, after no, after no, and a few more no’s on top of that.

Shockingly, I just got my yes! I have two weeks to prepare for the talk, and by the time you see this video, I will have been in preparation for more than a week. I’m back from vacation, where I actually took some time to write this TEDx talk. It will be aired and streamed on May 6th, and you’ll be able to see it.

My encouragement to you is this: Create a vision that is personal to you. Then set yourself up to do it.

My vision to do a TEDx talk wasn't a goal for Slater Success. It wasn't business. This was something I wanted to accomplish for myself. It was a vision I set for myself.

I put the goal in place; I invested in some support around this, and I just kept showing up even after receiving all the no's. Sales 101. It's not about the, no; it's about staying in the game to get the yes.

I feel great. More importantly, I'm really grateful to the support from Slater Success community.

So. I want to give a big shout out to thank you for the support and to share this great news!
