The New Standard for Extraordinary

I thought I would share an excerpt from the chapter titled "The New Standard for Extraordinary" taken from my latest best-selling book, "Best of the Best - Lead Boldly, Scale Rapidly, Create Your Legacy.”

We’re halfway through the year, which provides a great opportunity to level up to a higher vision of where you want your business to go and to develop the mindset of how to get there. I’d like to share some insights from "Best of the Best," my newly published book.

I’ll actually “begin at the ending” by referencing a chapter near the end of the book called “The New Standard for Extraordinary,” which summarizes my approach to leading, scaling, and creating your legacy. As a personal note, when I owned my printing company, Slater Graphics, I would advise clients to read from the back one more time during proofreading, as you catch a lot of errors this way. Too often, when we read from the front, we are reading from memory and not truly proofreading.

I wrote Best of the Best for business leaders who seek rapid growth and excellence for their company, want to position their company for an epic next-level move, and are committed to having a thriving business AND personal life.

In “The New Standard for Extraordinary,” I suggest to readers how they can evolve into a better version of themselves as a Visionary Leader.

Being at the top of your game means continuously working on your own self-improvement. If you don't, you might miss out on the combined benefits of all your business parts, which could prevent you from reaching your sales and success goals.

Consequently, I offer three keys to evolving as a Visionary Leader:

1.Show up regularly as your best possible self so your company can be at its best.

  • Take some time to reflect on and celebrate your good fortune in doing what you love! I am so committed to this that I start every call with everyone sharing a “success”.

  • Help yourself remember why you do what you do, especially during times when you’ve forgotten. Let’s be honest, not every day is a banner day in running your business. I know from my 30-plus years of owning a company that I have wanted to quit one or two times. Hence, take a moment and remember why you do what you do, what drives you, why you started your company, and what gets you out of bed every day.

2.Prepare yourself for maximum extraordinary visibility.

  • To support yourself emotionally, engage in self-care and reach out for support. “It is lonely at the top.” I have heard this from clients over the years and have felt it myself. Years ago, I committed myself to a practice of self-care—something you may not have yet created—try making it a priority starting today.

  • Expect success. It's often amazing how the Universe delivers your intentions. Yes, it requires dedication, vision, and action, but nothing is achieved without beliefs.

3.Let your Big Bold Vision* pave the way to a new standard of extraordinary.

  • Explore the Big Bold Vision of your professional and personal future by opening your mind and asking yourself questions about what it will or could look like.

  • Run your business for today as the Big Bold Vision you see it being in the future. Simply put, create your vision today and start leading and running your business based on the vision you see five years from now.

*Big Bold Vision describes tapping into your Inner Visionary** and doing an Alignment Process, which explores exactly where you are now in your personal life, and what you want to do and have in the future.

**Inner Visionaries step into BOTH the ability to see their big-picture vision AND use the practical skills to implement that vision for their business. Your Inner Visionary charges up your personal power, sets you apart from the others, and electrifies your relationships.

More on your Big Bold Vision: It’s a powerful tool that prompts you to ask the following questions, then explore the answers, vet new possibilities, set the direction to achieve them, and use this roadmap for all things extraordinary:

  1. Is my vision being all it can be?

  2. What if I took this further?

  3. What does the best of the best look like for me?

  4. What can I do to get there?

In closing, I want to share that writing Best of the Best was inspired by my own experiences of being there and then finding my way through with the solutions I’ve outlined in the book. They have motivated me to aspire to be the best of the best for my clients and, yes, to believe we can indeed be extraordinary.

Please note that Best of the Best is chock-full of information and practical “visionary success steps,” worksheets for each chapter, actual client experiences (called Ivy’s Office Hours), personal stories, and insightful quotes by business experts I’ve personally interviewed for this book over a 2-year period.

I encourage you to buy the book, read it, and complete the activities on the worksheets. I’m confident it will add value to your business leadership values and practice.  If you’re reading it, leave a review and let me know what you’re taking away. And if something resonates, pass it forward. Please share it with someone who could use the message or momentum.

P.S. If you've started implementing something from the book, I'd love to hear about it. Shoot me a message—I always love seeing how ideas turn into action.
