Why Implementation Is the Key to Business Success
This month, I’m leaning into a word that often gets overlooked in the world of strategy, consulting, and coaching. That word is implementation.
We spend so much time talking about strategic planning—setting goals, defining visions, and outlining objectives. But as the old expression goes:
“Man plans, God laughs.”
And that’s where implementation steps in.
Strategy Means Nothing Without Action
Even the most brilliant strategy won't move the needle unless it’s put into action. So how can you stay active and intentional with implementation? Here are a few tips I regularly share with my clients:
✅ Create an implementation plan alongside your strategic plan.
Know who is doing what, and by when.✅ Set deadlines.
A goal without a deadline is just a dream. Make it real by giving it a timeframe.✅ Communicate. Consistently.
Have regular check-ins. Monday morning meetings? Yes, please. End-of-week recaps? Even better. Communication is what holds your plan together.✅ Be willing to adapt.
Implementation isn’t about rigidity—it’s about learning, shifting, and adjusting when something isn’t working.✅ Celebrate success.
Yes, even the small wins. Progress builds momentum. Don’t miss the opportunity to acknowledge how far you’ve come.
So if you’ve been asking yourself, “What’s the one thing I need to focus on this quarter?”—my answer is simple:
Implementation, implementation, implementation.
