The Value Of Follow Up And Follow Through With Connections
It's a great time of year to connect with friends, with family, and to stay connected to your networks. Simple things like wishing people a happy holiday, asking them what they're doing for the holiday, and sharing a little bit of your own.
We're going to be spending some time in the next few weeks with my kids and their husbands and wives and extended family, really building relationships and enhancing those relationships as you build them.
This time of year, I don't necessarily look to meet new people, but I look to enhance the relationships that are there.
I truly believe that follow up. The follow through is where the golden nuggets are hidden. We meet people in the least likely places, and it's always about building your long-term sustainable growth network.
This is a story that just happened in the last couple of weeks. I can't make this stuff up. I was playing pickleball with some friends this summer Yes, I'm a pickleball player. Maybe not so good, but I do play. Friends had their sister up, so she joined in the game, as well. We were round robin with a bunch of different people rotating through and everybody was chatting off the side having a grand old afternoon.
Well, the sister and I got to talking We're in similar industries. We had a lot of background in common. I gave her a ride back to New York City with us, and it was a wonderful, wonderful experience.
Now, here's the thing. She texted me the other day and said, "Hey, Ivy, I know this board chair of a nonprofit, and they really need some leadership work. Is this something you could step in and help with?"
Out of the blue during a pickle ball game with friends. Here's an opportunity. The leader, the board director, and I got on a call just this week and things are starting to move forward.
So be open. I talk about show up with an open heart and an open mind. That's where the greatest business is built from and it flourishes through.
Remember to stay on your follow up and your follow through and most importantly, enjoy the holiday season.
