Team, Innovation, Winning

The Golden Globes took place recently and The Grammys this past Sunday. I like to pull inspiring messages and ideas from the shows to share.

This year at the Globes, Norman Lear really impacted me.

At 98 years old, he received the HFPA’s Carol Burnett Award, which celebrates "outstanding contributions to television on or off the screen."

Lear is seen as one of the most influential producers in history and what struck me was how his speech focused so much on the people around him, his support, his creative partners, his family.

He said, “I have never lived alone. I have never laughed alone. And that has as much with me being here today as anything.”

Wow! I absolutely loved his message.

Jason Sudeikis, who won for best television actor in a musical or comedy, also thanked those around him.

He said “the best actor is the one you’re acting with,” and went on to thank the cast of his show and how they make him better.

It’s thrilling when we set a goal and accomplish it, or receive an award for our work, but the real win is having good people around us. Especially at this time in our lives, when staying in touch and connected takes an even bigger effort.

The fashion is always another big part of the Globes and this year we got to see celebrities in their homes with their families, some dressed up, some casual, which was really fun to see and brought a relatable element to the show.

The Grammys looked different. It was done outside and in-person and the fashion was absolutely gorgeous. It was also great to see live music! No one has been to a concert in the past year, so it felt like a concert in my living room.

We are all craving things we have missed out on and what better than music to bring us all together.

From the red carpet to actual carpet...one of my team members was telling me how she is renovating a room in her home and decided to get the carpet first, even though that might not be the “right order.”

In business, and in life, sometimes it’s time to toss out the rules. Wear what you want, celebrate how you want, dream how you want and just enjoy the moments!
