Three Things To Put On Your To-Do List For 2021
Tomorrow is Inauguration Day and it will look very different from prior years.
I was reading in the New York Times the reason there is such a big gap between the end of an election and Inauguration Day was created by the authors of the Constitution, so the new government would have time to travel to DC during the winter. It actually used to be even longer, but was changed in 1933 when an amendment was made. What an interesting fact!
It reminded me to always stay in education mode, keep learning, researching, reading, talking to people, asking questions. I like to think of this as market research mode.
2020 threw us so many curveballs and 2021 will be a year of adjustment and transition. The pandemic is still forefront on our minds and business is still being done mainly virtually.
As you navigate this new year, put a group of people around you to help set you up for success. Only you know what that looks like. The most helpful part is how we can be a resource to one another, learn from each other and take that knowledge and share it forward to even more people.
As I’m interviewing people for my third book, which focuses on leadership, especially through challenging times, the stories I hear are truly remarkable. Just listening to one person’s journey can tell you so much about them and give you ideas on how to incorporate strategies into your own life for growth.
In building a plan for 2021, put these three things on your list:
Regular conversations with a support network
Self-care practices
Personal development
When we work on ourselves, it only helps our business.
My team and I chat every Monday on our team call and we always start with life stuff, because business stuff can wait. It’s important to check in on each other. I began working with a mindfulness coach this year, as well, and she has been an integral part in helping me stay on track with my self-care. Yes, even coaches benefit from coaching. It is easy for me to fall into patterns in my life, as well as in my business, and this is another way I surround myself with support.
Take care of yourself, get your goals and plans in place and I’m here if you need anything.
