The Results of Your Values and a Plan
Slater Success runs on value, integrity and relationships.
My team and I were chatting, as we do every Monday morning on our team call, and discussing COVID-19 and the importance of being prepared in business for any obstacle or curveball.
We talked about our own team and what would happen if someone wasn't able to work, etc. and we came up with one very easy answer:
We have systems in place, and would pull together. There are former team members, as well as people in all of our networks, who we have wonderful relationships with and can easily reach out for some temporary support. Hence the value of relationships.
The biggest point I share with my team is that your family, health and wellbeing come first, always. No one should feel pressure or feel like they can’t take care of a personal situation because there is work to be done or a deadline to meet. I have always pulled together my teams with people who understand and take responsibility. I know if there is an unexpected issue with someone or their family it is truth and we all pull together.
If I couldn’t get my Tuesday newsletter out because I didn’t know how to schedule it without my team member, I would simply reach out to some former team members and say, “Hey, I’m in a pinch, can you step in this week?” And I already know they would say yes. With NO hesitation.
You must have a System A, B and C at all times. If this year has taught us anything, it’s taught us to be creative and find new ways to do just about everything. Your business will benefit from this creativity, so embrace it.
Honesty and trust are also huge components of our team. Everyone is encouraged to share whatever they are facing, challenges they are dealing with, and yes, also good news and celebrations.
We are spouses, partners, moms, aunts, daughters, friends, etc. FIRST.
When you trust people, you can be open, you can be vulnerable, you can ask for help. My team is not the only place I encourage these values. I do this with my clients, as well.
This has been a challenging time for so many people and I’ve been happy to reschedule calls, figure out new pricing plans and even pause work to ensure our relationships remain strong.
What are the core values of your business, of your team? Are you clearly communicating this?
Who can you turn to if you need help? Do you have a network of support? Don’t face these times, or any times, alone.
Reach out to me at any time to talk strategy and planning. I’m always ready for a Zoom coffee.
And if you haven’t joined one of our Monday Visionary Leadership calls, register below for next week. This can be the circle of trust and community you need.
