What Are Your Vacation Plans For This Summer?

What are your vacation plans for this summer

As my team and I start to embark on a few summer vacations, I’m reminded how different this year is than many others. And you know what, different is not bad!

I actually planned four mini-vacations from March - June, all of which were cancelled. My dream trip to Morocco with my sister and our daughters; the Dominican Republic for some quality time with good friends; Mexico with my family to celebrate my birthday and my normal spring trip to visit my son in LA. Sure, I was disappointed, but I can reschedule these any time. Countries and places are not going anywhere, it is people that are important.

The one that hurt the most was not seeing my son, because we never go more than a few months without seeing one another, so I am beyond ecstatic he is flying in next week, finally!

So many people missed weddings, graduations, vacations they had planned for years and weren’t able to visit their loved ones in nursing homes and hospitals. When you put that into perspective, missing a trip seems so trivial. And it’s a good reminder to not dwell on negative and instead do what you can to support others.

Instead of a lot of packing and airplanes, it’s a staycation for me this year and I am looking forward to it JUST as much. I’m ready for the break, getting away from the screen, taking intentional time to spend with my family, friends (social distanced) and having pure relaxation time.

As business owners and entrepreneurs when we pause, we open up a window to creativity and in that creativity comes opportunity. I’ve often thought of my next greatest idea or written a few chapters of a new book while “not working.”

Whether you consider yourself creative or not, you are! You have to be, to get to where you are today. You are doing great things.

In writing another article for LinkedIn, I wanted to put some of the sentiments here and that is - 2020 has been a year we never could have pictured. Even though the goals we created in December/January might not be possible, goals still must be set. Action to move forward needs to happen. Do not stay stuck out of fear. Make a decision. Commit.

If you haven’t joined one of my weekly, Zoom calls on “How to be a Visionary Leader During Unexpected Times,” I encourage you to register for one of the upcoming dates.

In one hour, surrounded by a group of business owners from all different industries, you get a peek into everyone’s window, into their world. It helps you not feel alone during this time and you might just hear the one thing you need to hear to stay on track or create your new path.
