Build A Top-Tier Team + Keep Taking Action
Times are different but there is still opportunity everywhere for your business. With creative thinking and great planning, focus on what you CAN do to be a visionary leader.
What you CAN do for your team and your people is show up at 100% and be as positive as you can be.
There is fear and some companies will not be able
to hold on to all their team members at the moment. Can you look at this as an opening to raise the leadership of your team. In coming from what you can do is look to provide support for them and work to build a top-tier team.
This is the time to give what you can to your team. Can you provide them with training? Encourage and potentially subsidise them to access online courses to build their skills or help them find local resources that may benefit them at this time? Can you be there as a mentor, simply to answer questions and give career advice? Can you use your network to connect your team to others who might be offering virtual classes or providing valuable resources at no cost?
As far as financially, start examining your cash flow so you can keep taking action. If you don’t have a personal relationship with your banker, now is the time to make that happen. I have known my banker for years and was just chatting with Nancy the other day, asked how they are doing with showing up at the bank and how her family is doing. We have built a strong relationship. If something odd comes up on my account, she gives me a personal phone call to ensure there isn’t an issue.
You have more time right now, so take a hard look at your expenses and determine what is not necessary versus what is. Forward-thinking always is the key. You are most likely saving on travel right now, so how can that money best be allocated?
Look at the offers surrounding your particular industry right now and see if any payments can be held off for now. I have seen stories in the news of landlords offering some relief to their tenants and utility companies giving more time to pay bills, as well. Be the leader and if you don’t see something, raise the question, ASK!
Get creative, innovative and keep brainstorming. I am now holding twice a week calls (you may have been on already) with my community to talk through ideas and support one another. It is easy to become isolated when we are isolating ourselves for good health. These calls are about talking business, strategizing and seeing where innovation can take us all.
